Beijing asks to further enhance Chinese nationals security in Pakistan

BEIJING: While strongly condemning the criminals for their violent acts against Chinese citizens after killing of a Chinese citizen in a gun attack in Karachi, a Chinese foreign ministry’s spokesperson said on Tuesday that both China and Pakistan were maintaining close communication to closely monitor progress of the case.

“We strongly condemn the criminals for their violent acts against Chinese citizens and will continue to closely monitor the progress of the case, provide active assistance to the families of the victims in dealing with the aftermath,” Geng Shuang said during his regular briefing here.

He noted that in recent years, the Pakistani government and the military had taken a series of anti-terrorism and social security governance actions.

“We support Pakistan's efforts to promote relevant actions and safeguard domestic security and stability,” he added.
The spokesperson said that at the same time, the Chinese side hoped and believed that Pakistan would continue to take measures to guarantee the security of China's institutions and personnel in Pakistan.

He said the Chinese Consulate General in Karachi had confirmed killing of Chinese citizen in a gun attack in Karachi on
February 5.

It may be mentioned here that a Chinese national was killed and a passerby sustained bullet wounds when unidentified assailants attacked their car near Zamzama Park, DHA on Monday. APP
The deceased was identified as 40-year-old Chen Zhu, a shipping executive.
