The PML-N wants Shehbaz Sharif to be the next prime minister

ISLAMABAD: PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif is going to contest the election of prime minister against the PTI Chairperson Imran Khan, reported Monday.
The PML-N has nominated Shehbaz as its candidate for the post of prime minister as well as leader of the opposition in the National Assembly.
The decision to nominate Shehbaz was made by the party’s central executive committee after a meeting in Lahore.
The committee has suggested the name of Hamza Shahbaz, Shehbaz’s son, for the slot of Punjab chief minister. The party is confident that it will form the government in the province.
The alliance of opposition parties, which includes the PML-N, PPP, MMA, ANP and others, have announced that they will field their joint candidate for the posts of PM, speaker and deputy speaker of the National Assembly.
According to the decision unanimously taken by these parties, the candidate for prime minister office will be from the PML-N, speaker from the PPP and deputy speaker from the MMA.
The PTI’s parliamentary committee has formally nominated Imran as the party’s candidate for the office of prime minister.
The party is also expected to announce their candidates for the slots of speaker and deputy speaker.
It has achieved the required majority in Parliament’s lower house to form the government at the Centre.
