Russia sternly warns NATO

MOSCOW - Russia has warned NATO that any decision to admit Georgia to its ranks could trigger a terrible conflict.

Talking to newsmen in Mascow, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said such a policy is irresponsible and will have unspecified consequences for the alliance.

He said Georgia’s entry into NATO raised the risk of conflict with Moscow and under NATO rules, countries with territorial conflicts cannot join the alliance.
