Israeli forces martyr 9 protesting Palestinians

At least nine Palestinians have been martyred by Israeli forces in the second mass protest along Gaza border.

According to Palestinian Health Ministry, over one thousand three hundred people including women, children and six journalists were wounded.

More than four hundred Palestinians were taken to hospitals and medical centres for treatment.

The protesters are demanding that Palestinian refugees be allowed to return to ancestral land.

Meanwhile, Kuwait called on the UN Security Council, to back an independent inquiry on the killing of unarmed protesters last week.

Kuwait's UN ambassador Mansour al-Otaibi said that it is a matter the Security Council should address.

On the other hand, the United States once again blocked a UN Security Council statement supporting the right of Palestinians to demonstrate peacefully and endorsing Secretary General Antonio Guterres' call for an independent investigation into deadly protests in Gaza.

Palestinian UN Ambassador Riyad Mansour told reporters at UN headquarters in New York that the US rejection is very irresponsible. He said it will encourage Israel to continue with its onslaught against the civilian population in Gaza. APP/AFP
