FIA Immigration equipped with state of the art technology at Airports

Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Immigration department has undergone a technological transformation at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi. This initiative aims to enhance border security and counter the illicit use of counterfeit visas, particularly concerning human trafficking.

The Australian Federal Police (AFP) has generously provided the FIA Immigration with 17 state-of-the-art pieces of equipment, including Magnifiers, Ultraviolet Radiation Lights, and Security Laminate Verifiers.

These advanced tools empower FIA immigration officers to identify fraudulent passports and visas effectively, thereby bolstering the screening process for travelers and ensuring greater security at the airport. Muhammad Rashid Bhatti, the Assistant Director of FIA Immigration, expressed heartfelt appreciation for this valuable equipment, emphasizing its pivotal role in fortifying border security and combating unlawful activities within the airport's confines.

Prior to this significant development, the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) made the decision to introduce Electronic gates (E-gates) at airports throughout the country. As part of this initiative, the PCAA has embarked on the first phase of the E-gate project at three major international airports: Islamabad, Allama Iqbal, and Jinnah International Airport. The project is being supervised by the Aviation Secretary and the Director-General of the Civil Aviation Authority (DGCAA).

It is worth noting that multiple national institutions, including the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) passports division, and the FIA immigration department, have contributed their insights and recommendations towards the successful implementation of the E-gate project, underscoring the collaborative effort to enhance airport security and immigration processes in Pakistan.
