NEW YORK - According to New York Times, with Pakistan economy in a bad shape, the Pakistan Army is looking for better ties with India so that they can get a breather.

Reportedly Pak Army Chief General Bajwa was interested in opening channels of communications with the primary goal of re-starting relationship between the two neighbours.

Bajwa and his Indian Army counterpart general Bipin Rawat goes back a long time to their service for peacekeeping forces in Congo.

According to Pakistan Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry, " Till the Indian elections, there cannot be an immediate betterment in bilateral relations".

Pakistan's new Prime Minister Imran Khan too have made positive signals about improving relationship with India despite his massive anti-Modi and anti-India rhetoric in the run-up to the polls.
