CAA revises the SOP for the domestic flights

Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) has revised the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for domestic flights to minimize the risk of spreading COVID-19 and keep passengers and airline crew safe.

The aviation authority’s spokesperson outlined the new guidelines, which asks people to wear a face mask before entering the terminal building. No one but the passengers will be allowed to enter the airport lounges, he said. ------------------------------

The spokesperson maintained that only passengers and airport staff will be permitted to go beyond the parking area. The airport managers will be responsible for ensuring social distancing at the boarding bridge and departure lounge.

All flights will be disinfected following the prescribed procedures before departure, and the crew members will be mandated to wear PPE kits during the flight. ------------------------------

He added that the crew staff will provide sanitizers to passengers on an hourly basis during the flight.

The new SOPs will be effective from the 6th of October (today) to the 31st of December.

It should be noted that the Civil Aviation Authority has scrapped the requirement of seat spacing for incoming international passengers. Moreover, inbound flights (from selected countries) will no longer have to furnish a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test before boarding.
