IMF mission terms govt’s corrective measures as steps in right direction

An International Monetary Fund Mission which concluded its visit to Pakistan this week has highlighted that corrective measures recently taken by the government are the right steps in right direction.

The Mission which held a wrap up meeting with the Finance Minister Asad Umar and his team discussed the challenges facing Pakistan's economy.

The visiting team in its evaluation was of the view that further actions are required to be undertaken to correct imbalances in the economy and put it on a path of sustainable growth.

The Government is of the view that unless the much delayed deep structural and institutional reforms are implemented, the entrenched imbalances plaguing the economy will keep resurfacing.
