Sindh Police gets a new Force

ISLAMABAD - Sindh Police gets a new anti riots force to curb built protests.

The government of Sindh has established a special anti-riot police (ARP) unit to handle riots and violent protests, sit-ins and mob.

The newly raised specialized unit is equipped with the latest safety gadgets as per international standards.

The launching ceremony of the unit was held at Police Head Quarters Garden Karachi.

Additional Inspector General Police Dr Amir Shaikh was the chief guest of the event. Senior police officials and new force Jawans were also present at the event. ------------------------------

Dr Amir Shaikh informed the gathering that ARP would be used to stop encroachments, rally and protest. The Jawans will be given special training to handle violent crowds and disburse mobs.

“In the first phase, 357 Jawans have been inducted in the ARP and deployed in the three Zones of Karachi. Out of these, 150 will be equipped with the latest gas marks and other safety protection. ARP will also be provided with a fire-resistant uniform to handle the worst situation. By the passage of time the strength of the unit will be increased to 1,000 personnel,” the IGP added.
