SC adjourns contempt of court hearings against two private schools

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court adjourned hearing of a contempt of court case against two private schools for circulating derogatory letters against the apex court verdict till date in office.

The apex court headed sought reply from the Headstart School System and Ecole des Lumieres School of Light for allegedly circulating highly derogatory letters addressed to parents and guardians.

A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Justice Gulzar Ahmed and comprising Justice Faisal Arab and Justice Ijaz Ul Ahsan heard the contempt of court case initiated against two private schools. During the course of proceedings, Justice Gulzar Ahmed remarked that the court had viewed the letter of Headstart School and asked about the letter of Ecole School.

The counsel for Headstart School appeared before the bench and stated that his client could not appear before court as he was stuck in Karbala. Justice Gulzar Ahmed observed that Ecole des Lumieres School of Light had termed the apex court verdict as injustice. He asked the Ecole School counsel that whether his client would decide that the Supreme decision was based on justice or injustice.

The counsel for Ecole School submit apology over the matter. Later the court directed the Ecole School to submit a copy of original letter along with reply and adjourned hearing of the case for an indefinite period.
