Pervaiz Musharaf announces date for return back to Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Chairman All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) General (Retd) Pervez Musharraf will return back to the country after Eid-ul-Fitr and will participate in party’s election campaign.

APML leadership announced that General Musharraf will return to Pakistan following Eid-ul-Fitr but his final date of arrival will be announced once Supreme Court (SC) annouce it’s decision in General Musharraf’s appeal against disqualification to contest polls. Even if SC don’t decide the appeal in his favour, he’ll return to the country and lead his party in the elections.

It was also announced that General Musharraf will contest 2018 elections from four Constituencies including Chitral, Jhang, Gawadar and Karachi. Dr Amjad said that APML wants to become part of the political system through election process and we don’t believe in any other non-political system. He negated the rumors about any imminent deal through which General Musharraf to become President of Pakistan. He said that APML would participate in the elections through seat adjustment with its allied parties. In next couple of days party would announce its final candidates from all over Pakistan.

Dr Amjad told the journalists that on June 1 APML Core Committee had a meeting in Dubai that was presided over by General Musharraf. It was decided in the meeting that APML would participate in the elections from all over Pakistan and would issue tickets to the aspiring candidates on merit.

Talking about his allied parties Dr Ahmad said that our coalition don’t have a common election symbol.

Therefore we have decided to contest these polls on the basis of seat adjustment wherever we felt it necessary. Our allied parties would contest elections on their own election symbols, Dr Amjad also said. He said that SC would announce its judgment in General Musharraf’s appeal against disqualification for life today on Thursday. Life time ban was imposed at General Musharraf for November 3, 2007 emergency.

Dr Amjad expressed his hope that the apex court would do justice to us. He said that General Musharraf after Eid-ul-Fitr would come back to Pakistan and land at Islamabad International Airport. Faqeer Hussain Bukhari briefed the media about party’s candidates and it’s preparations for the elections.
