Pakistan-Finland enhance bilateral ties in diverse fields

Pakistan and Finland have agreed to enhance bilateral cooperation in diverse fields, including economy, trade, energy, agriculture and industry.

This understanding was reached during the third round of bilateral political consultations in Helsinki.

The two sides also exchanged views on the peace and security environments in their respective regions.

The Pakistan side briefed on Islamabad’s efforts to reach out to Kabul and New Delhi as part of the Prime Minister’s vision for a peaceful neighborhood.

Emphasis was also laid on strengthening of economic and trade relations by regular interactions between the business circles of the two countries.

The Finnish side was apprised of Pakistan’s credentials for the membership of the Nuclear Suppliers Group, while emphasizing the need for a criteria-based, non-discriminatory approach for new non-NPT member states.

During the talks, additional secretary Zaheer A. Janjua represented Pakistan, while Ambassador Anne Marjaana Sipilainen led the Finnish side.
