US cannot win in Afghanistan without Pakistan, hostility not in US interest: New York Times

NEW YORK – American newspaper The New York Times has reported that hostility with Pakistan is not in the United States’ interest, and America cannot fight against terrorists in the region without Pakistan’s help.

The report stated that changing relationships between both countries will increase problems for the US. It said Pakistan can halt American access to Afghanistan at any time as every US flight passes through Pakistan to reach Afghanistan and the goods are mostly transported through Pakistan’s roads and railways.

The article pointed out that China can take benefit from such a situation. It suggested the US to deal with Pakistan as an ally and continue to give aid. The matter should be resolved through diplomatic dialogues instead of yelling, the newspaper said.

However, the report also endorsed Trump’s narrative and alleged Pakistan of putting the US in trouble by playing a double game. The article said US President Donald Trump did not assure in his message to Pakistan that he will not worsen the relationships further.
