Energy reforms one of formost priorities of Govt: Dar

Finance Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar presided over a meeting in Islamabad today regarding the Tarbela Dam 5th Extension Hydropower Project.
Country Director World Bank Patchamuthu Illangovan informed the Minister that loans from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank have been arranged for the Tarbela Dam 5th Extension Hydropower Project.
Tarbela Dam 4th extension power generation project status
He informed that IBRD will lend 390 million dollars while AIIB will provide 300 million dollars for the project.
He also informed that two works contracts worth 2 billion dollars for the Dasu Hydropower Project are also ready for signing.
Finance Minister on this occasion said that energy reforms are one of the foremost priorities of the present government.
Tarbela Hydropower project generation to be enhanced to 6,298 MW
He emphasized that the government is actively working towards elimination of load-shedding, ensuring energy self-sufficiency and provision of cheap energy at affordable rates to the people.
