Indian Army fears Kashmiri children

SRINAGAR - Being fearfull of Kahsmiri children, a child was injured in firing by the Indian army in Kulgam on Monday, as locals clashed with an army patrol there.

A police official said an Army patrol team came under stone pelting immediately after conducting searches of a few houses in Redwani's Hawoora Kulgam.

The police said the Army's Ist Rashtriya Rifles "opened fire to disperse the stone-throwing protesters".

One youth, identified as Arif Ahmad Lone, sustained bullet injuries.

The police said the injured was shifted to a Srinagar hospital and is stable.

On January 27, the army came under criticism from regional political parties for directly firing into stone throwers mobs in Shopian, which left three civilian dead.
