AC sends Shahbaz Sharif to jail on judicial remand

An accountability court in Lahore has sent Opposition Leader in National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif to jail on a judicial remand.

He was produced before court by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to seek another extension of his physical remand in connection with the Ashiana Housing Scheme case.

Accountability judge Syed Najmul Hasan heard the case.

NAB prosecutor Waris Ali Janjua apprised the court of the investigation's progress and requested a further 15-day extension in Shahbaz Sharif's physical remand.

He said that Shahbaz Sharif has misused his powers during his time as the chief minister of Punjab.

The request was turned down by the court.

Meanwhile, Police baton charged on PML-N workers who gathered outside an accountability court as party President Shahbaz Sharif was produced before it in the Ashiana Iqbal Housing Scheme case in Lahore on Thursday.

Meanwhile, talking to a private Channel, Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chauhan said that there are 150 to 200 workers outside the court who came today in the mood of agitation.

He said that violence was pre-planned by PML-N workers and claimed everything will become normal within an hour.
