Punjab govt ordered to make Model Town inquiry report public

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has on Tuesday rejected the Punjab government’s appeal and ordered to make the Model Town inquiry report public.

A three-member larger bench of the LHC headed by Justice Abid Aziz Sheikh and comprising of Justice Syed Shahbaz Ali Rizvi and Justice Qazi Muhammad Amin Ahmad had reserved the decision on the appeal on an intra-court appeal moved by the Punjab government on November 24.

Earlier in September, the Lahore High Court had ordered to public the Model Town incident report prepared by Justice Baqir Naqvi.

According to details Justice Mazahir Ali Naqvi gave the verdict and ordered Punjab Home Secretary to public the report . Earlier, the court reserved the decision.

The Punjab government had filed an intra-court appeal in the Lahore High Court (LHC) against the decision of a single-bench to make public the judicial inquiry report of the Model Town incident.
