He was chairing a high level meeting in Islamabad today [Tuesday] to discuss issues relating to local government elections of Mayors, Deputy Mayors and Chairmen of District Councils in Punjab.
The meeting was attended by PML(N) leaders from Punjab.
The Prime Minister said democracy cannot progress without a vibrant system of local governments.

He said local governments bring forward good leadership at provincial and federal levels.
