WASHINGTON: WhatsApp Encryption Service incorporated to secure user’s personal data from cyber hackers, criminals and terrorists.
Company claimed that this feature will provide end-to-end encryption to its all users which mean only sender and receiver will be able to view the context.
It said “Encryption is one of the most important tool, governments, companies and individuals have to promote safety and security in the new digital age. Recently there had been a lot of discussion about encrypted services and the work of law enforcement.”
US government officials criticized WhatApp over encryption update.
Senator Tom Cotton said “This is an open invitation to terrorists, drug dealers and sexual predators to use WhatsApp’s service to endanger the American people.”
“Attacking the use of strong encryption only empowers criminals, foreign hackers and predators who will take advantage of weak digital security,” he added.
Days before, US investigation agency FIA unlocked iPhone without company’s permission to access the user data.
