Gwadar Port cargo handling capacity greatly enhanced with new equipment

QUETTA: The arrival of two more heavy cranes has increased Gwadar Port's handling capacity to 1500 containers per day. With the arrival of the new loading machinery now Gwadar port is able to handle much more number of cargo.
Chairman Gwadar Port Authority Dosteen Jamaldini in a statement in Karachi on Tuesday said the cranes can transfer the containers from ships to berth directly.
He said that the port is expected to handle 150 thousand containers in the first year of its working.
The development work is rapidly being carried out in the Gwadar port so as to make it the regional trade hub with the latest and the modern facilities so as it becomes the state of the art sea port of the World.
