APS Peshawar terrorist attack: SC announces the verdict in suomoto case

ISLAMABAD – The Supreme Court on Friday has announced the verdict in the suomoto case of the APS Peshawar terrorist attack.

SC has ordered the formation of a judicial commission to probe the the 2014 Army Public School (APS) carnage in Peshawar in which 131 school children and 10 other were killed.

The commission will be formed by the chief justice of Peshawar High Court (PHC) and will be led by a senior judge. The commission has been given six weeks to submit the report on the matter.

The chief justice of Pakistan had taken the suo motu notice on the matter earlier this year during his visit to apex court’s Peshawar registry after the parents of the martyrs demanded a judicial inquiry.

The parents, then, highlighted that there were intelligence reports about possible attack on an army-run school in Peshawar, adding that no action was taken to prevent the deadliest attack.
