India’s Kashmir map move will escalate tensions with China: Report

ISLAMABAD - India’s Kashmir map move will escalate tensions with China, Chinese State Media Report has claimed.

A research fellow at the Shanghai Institute for International Studies Zhao Gancheng says revoking Indian Occupied Kashmir’s status undermines peace and tranquility in region.

According to a Chinese newspaper Global Times, he said this will harm interests of India’s neighbors and also infringe on interests of Indian people.

He said that India believes Ladakh is not a part of Kashmir , so it will have disputes about Kashmir only with Pakistan after Ladakh is separated as another union territory.

Meanwhile, an expert on South Asia at China Institute of International Studies Lan Jianxue said India’s deliberate decision of formation of ‘Union Territory of Laddakh’ will expand China-India territorial rows, create fresh frictions and complicate their border disputes.
