US Major killed in Afghanistan was a Mayor: NYT
KABUL - The US Major killed in Kabul on Saturday had been the mayor of North Ogden in Utah.
According to the New York Times, Maj. Brent Taylor, had taken leave from his position to serve with the Utah National Guard in Afghanistan and had been part of an advisory team training staff in an Afghan commando battalion in Kabul.
The New York Times quoted Debra Richardson, a NATO spokeswoman, in Kabul, as saying that the gunman appeared to have been a member of the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces.
“The attacker was immediately killed by other Afghan forces,” she said.
