Hindu community set to celebrate 'Diwali'

HYDERABAD: Like other parts of the country, Hindu community of Pakistan especially in Hyderabad and interior Sindh would celebrate Diwali festival on November 7 with great enthusiasm.
'Diwali' is a colourful festival involving lightening of candles, worship, celebration and prayers, where 'prashad' is offered to all devotees. Being the festival of lights, thousands of lamps are lit in and outside every home on the day.
People will perform their religious rituals in temples decorated with lovely traditional motifs to welcome 'Lakshami', the goddess of wealth and prosperity.
The celebrations continue for five days and each day is associated with different myths, legends and beliefs.People exchange gifts and prepare festive meals for friends and family during Diwali.
Diwali is considered auspicious for shopping, inaugurations of new homes, business deals or for starting any new
ventures and projects.
Owners of sweet shops and bakeries also took preliminary start of Diwali preparations and it will increase with the passage of time as majority of the Hindus prefer to buy sweets and cakes to serve their visitors on Diwali.
