Punjab government seizes all charities run by banned organisations across the province
LAHORE - The Punjab government has close down all the charities run by banned organisations in schools and hospitals etc and apprehended 65 individuals in the province, a handout issued here on Tuesday said.
Any charity work being carried out by a proscribed organization will come under control of provincial government.
The decision has been taken in line with the charter of National Action Plan (NAP) under which no proscribed organisations or armed militia will be allowed to function in Pakistan.
This action is also in line with the federal government's multi pronged approach to tackle proscribed organisations, it added.
Explaining the arrests, it said the action is not directed towards any particular sect, group or organization, but has been launched across the board which is aimed at hastening completion of NAP.
It further said people, not involved with the proscribed organisations, did not need to fear the action, adding that it is a decision by the state of Pakistan and no one will be handed over to any one.
It said a comprehensive strategy has been evolved towards bringing such individuals into the mainstream and making them useful citizens through teaching skill sets, provision of jobs.
