Pakistani Minister to convey special message of PM Imran Khan to top Iranian leadership
ISLAMABAD - Minister for Railways Shaikh Rashid Ahmed reached in Tehran Tuesday on three-day official visit to Iran.
The railways minister was also carrying messages from the Prime Minister Imran Khan and President Dr Arif Alvi for the Iranian leadership.
During the visit, he will call on President Rouhani and Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamanei to deliver messages from Pakistan’s leadership, said a press release received here.
On Tuesday, he held a productive meeting with his Iranian counterpart, Minister of Roads and Urban Development Muhammad Eslami.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed several issues relating to bilateral cooperation in the field of railways.
Upgradation of the Taftan-Quetta rail track as well as connection between Taftan and Mirjaveh were also discussed. The Iranian side showed interest in collaborating with Pakistan in this field.
The railways minister invited Iran to participate in the bidding process for the Taftan-Quetta Railway Sector (ML 2) to which the Iranians showed interest.
The Iranian side informed that Iran Railways was also improving its track from Zahedan to Mirjaveh.
Sheikh Rashid was also given a detailed briefing on the Iranian rail network and technology by the Iranian Railways department.
