RAWALPINDI: Deputy District Officer(DDO) Dr Zeeshan Zafar said that dengue larvae was found at four houses in pirwadahi area while strict surveillance has been carried out at adjacent houses to eliminate the larvae breeding.

The DDO said that in Pirwadahi area people stored water in open drums which are suitable places for breeding of dengue larvae. Dr Zeeshan said that SOP’s regarding anti-dengue are being implemented in letter and spirit and surveillance has been lengthened in Rawal Town area to control the threat of dengue spread.

He said water accumulates in low lying areas after heavy rains, making them ideal breeding sites for dengue mosquitoes. Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Chaudary Muhammad Ali has directed the Rawalpindi Waste Management Company to start a cleanliness drive in the city to completely wipe out the dengue larvae breeding keeping in view the changing weather condition.
