Oscar Awads: "The shape of Water" wins best film award

LONDON - *The Oscar for Best Picture Awards which was held on Sunday night was awarded to **T**he Shape of Water**.*
The producer, Guillermo del Toro and J. Miles Dale, accepted the award at the 90th Academy Awards – which was the second for del Toro who also won the award for best directing.
The film also secured two other Oscar wins for Music (Original Score) and Production Design.
Set in 1962, the story follows janitor Elisa Esposito who works at a classified government laboratory that tests new technology to help defeat the Soviet Union during the Cold War.
Isolated and lonely, the mute Elisa finds her life changing forever when she uncovers the truth about the facility's most unusual and top-secret project.
The 2018 Oscar winner for Best Actor was Gary Oldman for his performance in *D**arkest Hour*. This is his second Academy Award nomination and first Oscar win.
In the film, Gary Oldman portrays Winston Churchill, the new British prime minister, torn between rallying his nation to fight a ferocious enemy and bowing to pressure to appease Hitler during the early days of World War II. With the fall of France imminent and the possibility of a German invasion of Britain looming, Churchill knows his decision will affect the entire free world.
Frances McDormand meanwhile won Best Actress for *Three Billboards.*
