FATF greylist: Russia stood with Pakistan till last moment against US and India, reveals sources

PARIS - FATF's proceedings are carried out in secrecy and hence FATF decided not to mention Pakistan's name in the Chairman's summary.
Pakistan's name will be included in the June list after all the procedures are over.
Finance Minister of Pakistan and Pakistan Foreign Office formally informed of the action.
It is considered that three votes against a motion would break consensus.
In Pakistan's case, during the initial ICRG (International Cooperation Review Group) round there were three countries who voted against the motion of grey listing Pakistan - China, Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
Russia expressed reservations and objected to the resolution. However Russia stood with Pakistan till the end when it was mutually agreed by Pakistan Russia and China after China was being made the head of the FATF by US withdrawing US nominee Japan in China's favour. Russia only withdrew when it was mutually agreed with Pakistan when Pakistan Russia and China agreed with the new proposal of China being made The head of FATF.
