LONDON: Dozens of schools and airports have been shut down after the heavy snowfall in UK.

It is reported that northern England is hit by heavy snowfall recorded as much as 10 cm.

More than 100 schools were closed and flights were delayed after snowfall.

The entire area was blanketed by snow and people faced problems during their journey.

The Met Office warned people to drive carefully because of icy conditions on the roads.

The Met Office claimed that temperature will remain below the normal until the middle of the next week due to the north-easterly winds and wintry showers.

A spokesman said “There are a number of delays which will be cleared by mid-morning. From our perspective, the airport is now open for business.”

Forecaster Alex Burkill said “There could definitely be some significant accumulations by the time people wake up. It’s going to be pretty chilly and it’s going to feel pretty unpleasant in some parts.”
