BEIJING: China says it will not fire first shot in trade war with United States and will not be the first to levy tariffs.
This has been stated by the Chinese Finance Ministry in a clarification in Beijing.
The Ministry said China will not implement tariff measures ahead of the United States doing so.
Earlier, Washington had said it would implement tariffs on 34 billion dollar of Chinese imports from tomorrow while Beijing had vowed to retaliate in kind on the same day.
Meanwhile, Asian stocks got off to a cautious start today as investors remained nervous amid a looming deadline for Washington’s proposed tariffs on Chinese imports, leaving financial markets in a state of anxious uncertainty.APP
