US, Russia to discuss Syria situation at summit

MOSCOW: The United States has said the worsening situation in Syria will be a key issue at the summit between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin later this month.
Talking to media, US State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert said US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov have discussed the matter on the phone.
Russian Foreign Ministry said, the two top diplomats discussed preparations for a Russian-US summit due to be held in Helsinki on 16th of this month.
It said they also discussed current issues including the situation in Syria and on the Korean Peninsula.
