Afghan Taliban Commander killed in Afghanistan

KABUL - Hakimullah, a Taliban commander, and two of his fighters were killed in an explosion early Thursday in eastern Nangarhar province, local officials confirmed.

In addition, four other Taliban members were wounded.

The incident took place in Khoghyani district when Hakimullah’s vehicle hit a roadside mine, a spokesman for the provincial governor, Attaullah Khoghyani said.

According to him, “the incident happened while he was on his way to a picnic with his men.”

However, Khoghyani did not provide further details about the incident.

The Taliban has not yet commented over their commander’s death.
