US President Donald Trump threatened government shutdown for year
WASHINGTON - U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened to keep government partially shut for months or years after he and Democratic leaders failed to resolve their dispute.
According to a source familiar with White House, Trump has threatened to take controversial step of declaring a national emergency and building the wall without congressional approval.
Trump is withholding his support for a bill that would fully fund the government until he secures money for the wall.
Meanwhile, according to White House spokesman Hogan Gidley, White House officials and Senate staff members will meet today in a bid to end the partial U.S. government shutdown.
