India not using Afghan soil against Pakistan: President Ashraf Ghani

KABUL - The Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani dismissed misperceptions regarding the presence and role of India in Afghanistan as he insists that India is a good partner of Afghanistan, particularly in economic development by contributing largely in infrastructures reconstruction of the country.
President Ghani made the remarks during a meeting with the members of the Lower and Upper Houses of the Parliament to brief the lawmakers regarding his recent foreign trips and interactions.
Hailing India’s contribution in various sectors including infrastructure development, President Ghani insisted that the Afghan government is committed to further boost bilateral cooperation with the New Delhi.
He said the Afghan government has not hidden deal with any country and no foreign state will be allowed to use the Afghan soil against the neighbors of Afghanistan.
President Ghani further added that Kabul has shared interests with New Delhi and the Afghan government will continue to use the economic opportunities which have been provided by India for the development of the country.
This comes as Islamabad has long been opposing with the presence of India in Afghanistan with the country’s officials claiming that India uses the Afghan soil for destructive activities against Pakistan.
