Top French companies keen to invest in Pakistan: French envoy

ISLAMABAD: Chairman of France-Pakistan Business Council Thierry Pflimin has said that over a dozen French companies have expressed keenness to invest in Pakistan.

Talking to media in Islamabad, he said that they have identified various areas of cooperation including agriculture, food processing, hydro-electric and renewable energy, digitalization of industry, electronics, IT, LNG storage and re-gasification.

Thierry Pflimin said the main objective of their visit was to understand Pakistan and the business opportunities it offered.

He said China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is a wonderful project and Europe can also bring in investment for increased cooperation with Pakistan.

Earlier, the delegation of Pakistan-France Business Council led by its Chairman Thierry Pflimlin met with Commerce Minister Khurram Dastgir Khan in Islamabad.

Commerce Minister said that Pakistani market has huge potential and offers lucrative investment opportunities.

The Minister said that Pakistan attaches immense importance to its relations with France.

He urged the delegation to invest in the high potential sectors like E-commerce, Information Technology, Logistics and Infrastructure.

The Minister also proposed Pak-French Business Opportunities Conference to ensure business to business interaction and further boost the trade.

Thierry Pflimlin on this occasion said that delegation is interested in investment in agriculture and IT sectors.
