IP gas pipeline project , a way to connect people of Iran-Pakistan: Leader of House

ISLAMABAD: Leader of the House in Senate Syed Shibli Faraz said Iran-Pakistan (IP) gas pipeline is not just a project but a way to connect people of the two countries.

In an interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Wednesday, he said that keeping in view the energy requirements of Pakistan, this project should be completed as early as possible.
“Energy is our requirement and we must engage ourselves and take this thing forward, we should expedite this project,” senior member of ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party said.

The lawmaker said that Iran-Pakistan ties right now are not at their full potential, but our government would obviously endeavor to bring the two countries closer and engage in all sorts of activities like trade especially and the cultural interchange that we have with Iran.

“With Iran we have a long history; Iran is a great country and we think that it is not being treated very justly by the international community,” he said.
The senator added, 'We certainly hope that with the people of Iran who are just like brothers to us we seek closer ties especially in trade and economic sector.

Syed Shibli Faraz expressing his views said that Iran-Pakistan trade has lot of potential, both countries have big markets and we must encourage that. The parliamentarian added this is a very effective way of bringing the two countries closer.
“Our government will definitely come up with a much focused and very clear strategy of how to engage with Iran both diplomatically as well as in trade ties,” he said.
