ISLAMABAD -Yet another feather in the cap of the Pakistani new Skipper Babar Azam.
Australia’s wicketkeeper and vice-captain Alex Carey has praised Babar Azam after his classy half-century in the first T20I between Australia and Pakistan.
The top seed batsman in the shortest format of the game led the team from the front and made 59 from just 38 balls.
Speaking to reporters at match conference, Carey said:
Hopefully we can get him [Babar Azam] out early but he has shown why he is the number one in the world in this format for a reason and again today he was really classy for them.
He then backed the Australian bowlers to neutralize the threat of Babar Azam in the coming matches.
It would be nice to get into their middle-order early and Starc and Richo [Kane Richardson] have the weapons to do that. Conditions in Canberra can be different and the same for Perth. So we are excited for the next two games ahead and hopefully we don’t have to worry about one player in particular.
