Iran starts production of domestic built military fighter jet

TEHRAN – The production line of the first domestically-built military aircraft Kowsar was opened on Saturday with the attendance of Commander of Iran's Army Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi on Saturday.

Iranian Minister of Defense, Brigadier-General Amir Hatami; Commander of Iranian Army Air Force, Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh; Head of Iran Aviation Industries Organization, Abdolkarim Banitarafi were present at the opening ceremony .

Manufacturing Kowsar which is a short-range air support aircraft has put Iran among the few countries with the technology of designing and producing the 4th generation avionics and fire control systems.

The aircraft will be produced in both single- and two-seat versions and is able to be used in advanced pilot training courses in addition to military purposes. - APP/AFP
