Pakistan Express narrowly escapes a disaster in Karachi

KARACHI - Pakistan Railways has escaped a disaster as its main passenger train Pakistan Express narrowly escaped an accident on Sunday in Karachi after residents alerted the train to a broken railway track.

The ragged railway track near Malir Kala Board stop had broken due to the movement of several trains. By waving a red cloth, locals alerted the driver thus averting the tragedy.

The driver responded promptly and stopped the train and the large number of passengers travelling in the train were saved from a possible accident.

Railway authorities reached the scene to repair the broken track and later directed Pakistan Express towards its destination.

According to authorities, the breakage of fish plate had occurred accidentally. Four inches of the railway track had broken down while three bolts had sprung out.
