Membership of Egyptian parliament suspended over inviting Israeli Ambassador at home
CAIRO: A Member of Egyptian Parliament Tawfik Okasha is suspended and banned from parliament for five years over inviting Israeli Ambassador at home.

More than two-third members of parliament voted for a bill to ouster Okasha from his seat.

They call him a traitor and collaborator with Israel.

An Egyptian journalist Mustafa Bakri said “Tawfik Okasha welcoming the enemy Israeli ambassador at his house is a scandal.”

Parliament spokesman said “The penalty is not over his meeting with the ambassador of a foreign country, but because of the issues discussed during this meeting, in relation to Egypt’s national security.”

Okasha invited Israel ambassador Haim Koren at his home for dinner and discussed to mediate between the conflict of Egypt and Ethiopia for the dam build by Ethiopia on Nile River.

The issue caught fire when Okasha posted his pictures of meeting with Israeli ambassador on social media.

Ethiopia will inaugurate the dam in 2017 which is the largest dam in Africa.
