Pakistan Armed Forces degraded al-Qaeda in South Asia: US Report

WASHINGTON: US claimed in its annual-country terrorism report that Pak army operations in North Waziristan degraded al-Qaeda capability to operate in the region.

“International, Afghan and Pakistan forces continued to conquest AQ’s presence in the region, and Pakistan’s offensive in North Waziristan Agency further degraded the group’s freedom to operate. Pressure on AQ’s traditional safe havens has constrained the leadership’s ability to communicate effectively with affiliate groups outside of South Asia,” the report said.

US claimed that terror violence decreased in the year 2015 but Pakistan still suffered from terror attacks that targeted schools.

Report claimed that Pakistan army launched operations against terror organizations but Afghan Taliban and Haqqani Network were excluded from it.

Report said that India remained under terror attacks by Maoists and other insurgent groups which operate from Pakistan.

The report stated that 11,774 terror attacks occurred in 92 countries in 2015 and Iran is the state who foremost sponsored terrorism.
