Atleast 10 Afghan soldiers killed and wounded in an attack by Taliban in Kabul

KABUL - The Afghan armed forces suffered casualties in an attack by the Taliban militants on a security post in Kabul.

Security sources in Kabul confirmed that the incident took place late on Tuesday night in the vicinity of Surobi district.

The sources further added at least six soldiers lost their lives and at least four others were wounded in the attack.

There are no reports available regarding the casualties of the Taliban militants.

This comes as the Ministry of Defense said Monday at least six militants were killed during the airstrikes conducted along the highway between Kabul and Jalalabad.

According to a statement released by the Ministry of Defense, the airstrikes were conducted in support of the ongoing operations to suppress the militant groups.

No further details have been given regarding the airstrikes but the anti-government armed militants often conducted terrorist related activities in the outskirts of Kabul province, mainly in the areas around Surobi.

According to the defense ministry at least one militant also sustained injuries during the ground operations and airstrikes along the highway.
