Pakistan has 22,000 MW Bio Mass alternative energy capacity

LAHORE (APP): The government must concentrate on establishing bio-mass units in villages and exploit other such alternative energy sources, Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) former president, Syed Mohsin Raza Bukhari, said here on Sunday.

Talking to APP, he said that amongst the alternative sources of energy, biomass shows tremendous potential. The total capacity in biomass is over 22,000 megawatts in Pakistan, for which little technical training is required, he added.

He said though the government is working in energy sector effectively and a number of power projects are in the pipeline, it is a duty of the government to develop alternative means of electricity generation.

He said the government should also focus on construction of water reservoirs.
