KABUL - Pakistan Military has resorted to artillery shelling at the TTP dens in eastern Kunar province of Afghanistan, the local officials said Sunday, Khaama Press has reported.

The shelling started late on Saturday night with the local officials saying nearly 180 artillery shells landed in Dangam district.

The district administrative chief Ahmad Rahman Danish confirmed that the artillery shells landed in Afghanistan.

The artillery shelling started hours after a deadly suicide attack on an army unit of the Pakistani military in Swat valley of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the Pakistani military, at least eleven soldiers lost their lives in the attack and around 13 others were wounded.

Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan has claimed responsibility behind the attack.

Last evening’s attack was carried out years after the Pakistani military launched several operations in Swat which was once home to several Pakistani Taliban insurgents.
