Trump seeks Pakistan’s support for peace in Afghanistan

US President Donald Trump, in his letter addressed to Prime Minister Imran Khan, has sought Pakistan’s support and facilitation for a negotiated settlement of the Afghan war.

According to Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal, President Donald Trump has also acknowledged that the war has cost both the United States and Pakistan.

He has emphasized that Pakistan and US should explore opportunities to work together and renew partnership.

The Spokesperson said that since Pakistan has always advocated a political settlement to end war in Afghanistan, US decision is welcomed.

He said Pakistan reiterates its commitment to play a facilitation role in good faith as peace and stability in Afghanistan remains a shared responsibility.
