Jordan warns US against recognizing Jerusalem as Israel capital

Jordan has warned the United States of dangerous consequences if it recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi warned US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson in a tweet that such a declaration would trigger great anger in the Arab and Muslim world, fuel tension and jeopardize peace efforts.

Palestinian movement Hamas has also threatened a new "intifada" if the United States recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel or moves its embassy to the disputed city.

However, there is no response from the US State Department on the issue.
