National Security Committee meets in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The National Security Committee (NSC) is holding a meeting in Islamabad today.

The top civil-military brass is reviewing the current situation in occupied Kashmir.

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is chairing the meeting which is being attended by Army chief General Qamar Bajwa, defence minister, interior minister, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and chiefs of the three armed forces.

NSC strongly condemned Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir.

Sources said the premier apprised the committee of his visit to Muzaffarabad earlier today. “PM Abbasi also briefed the committee about his meeting with Hurriyat leadership,” sources said.

The committee asserted that international bodies should take notice of Indian atrocities in the occupied valley, sources added.

At least 19 Kashmiri youth have been martyred by Indian security forces in Islamabad and Shopian districts of the occupied valley.
