162 Afghan Army Generals sent packing home: Report

KABUL - 162 Senior Army Generals retired from the Afghan Military as efforts are underway to bring reforms in the security and defense sector of the country, Khaama Press has reported.

The Ministry of Defense of Afghanistan said the 162 Senior Army Generals received their retirement after their service term ended as per the Article 59 Officers’ inherent law.

A ceremony was organized in the Ministry of Defense to celebrate the retirement of the Senior Military Generals and was attended by senior officials including the Minister of Defense Tariq Shah Bahrami.

In his speech to the retired generals, Bahrami thanked them for their contribution in the rebuilding, training, and empowerment of the Afghan army as well as taking part in the combat missions.
