U.S. oil sanctions will fail in practice: Iranian President

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has reiterated that Tehran will continue selling its oil despite U.S. sanctions and said Washington’s policy of putting pressure on Iran would fail in practice.

In a statement, he called the U.S. decision to try to reduce Iran’s oil exports to zero a futile policy and said American power is not as strong as they claim.

Earlier, United States demanded buyers of Iranian oil to stop purchases by today or face sanctions, ending six months of waivers that has allowed Iran’s eight biggest customers, most of them in Asia, to import limited volumes.
